Inspired By a Stamp

Inspired By a Stamp
I was so inspired by the cover of the current USA Philatelic catalog I saw at the Post Office – it features the most beautiful Cherry Blossom Centennial postage stamp!
I’m also taking the on-line Tim Holtz class and wanted to try the brushless watercolor technique with some of my distress inks. Using the cherry blossom stamp from an older HA set called CL228 Asian Elements I inked it up with spun sugar, worn lipstick, walnut stain and peeled paint distress inks, spritzed with water and stamped on a piece of watercolor paper repeating several times. I then added a few single flower images from this same set that were not misted as heavily with water. Afterwards I painted a "sky" in the background using a combination of water and tumbled glass distress inks.
Sentiment is from CL342 Everyday Sayings. After distressing edges with antique linen and walnut stain distress inks piece was mounted with foam tape on an eggshell base stamped in HA soft sand with S5507 Envie pattern and distressed with pumice stone distress ink.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I’ll be back later to comment in the pool:)
TFL and for all your sweet comments!
